XTRMNTR pronounced Exterminator is the sixth studio album by Scottish rock band Primal Scream. It was first released on 31 January 2000 in the United Kingdom by Creation Records and on 2 May 2000 in the United States by Astralwerks. It peaked at number 3 on the UK Albums Chart. Whenever indie music seems lost in its own self-righteous, unchallenging, inoffensive fundament, Primal Scream rides in to try and save it all. So just as Screamadelica tried to encapsulate the importance of ecstasy culture, or Vanishing Point tried to exorcise their own insanity, here XTRMNTR is a nasty, fierce realization of an entire world that has also lost the plot. Their most thrilling and inventive record since Screamadelica, its a combustion of political sloganeering, pressure-cooker punk Accelerator , agit-techno Swastika Eyes Jagz Kooner Mix , scuzzy hip-hop Pills , and throbbing psychedelia Shoot Speed, Kill Light . Amid all the aggression and uprising, electro ballad Keep Your Dreams reminds us theres still beauty and optimism at the heart of the band. Xtrmntr Primal Scream.
