Lil' Beethoven - Sparks. Лента с персональными рекомендациями и музыкальными новинками, радио, подборки на любой вкус, удобное управление своей коллекцией. Lil' Beethoven is the 19th album by the American rock band Sparks, released in 2002. By 2002, Sparks had released eighteen albums, the last several of them in the new wavesynthpop vein. While this had been successful, breaking them in the US with 1983's Cool Places and in Germany with When Do I Get To Sing 'My Way' in 1995, it had not secured them much critical acclaim or a consistent audience. 1997's Plagiarism, which consisted entirely of new recordings of earlier material, had been intended. Lil' Beethoven is the or, more appropriately, a summation of everything Sparks had been promising for the past 30 years. It is also quite unlike anything they have ever delivered before. The classical pretensions of the title are mirrored exactly in the music. Strings, acoustics, piano, and chorales are the album's primary assets, layered on with such guile that their essential simplicity is absolutely disguised. Lil Beethoven. The Rhythm Thief 02. Hey everybody what do you say Someone's bounced us from center stage Some might have done it, but not today Beethoven, Coltrane, or Lady Day Some might have done it, but not today What with all these things besieging us now Some might have done it, broken on through Wagner, Tatum, or Howlin' Wolf Some might have done what we'll never. Lil' Beethoven does stand as one of the most substantial albums in the sprawling Sparks catalog because of its massive reach, but that reach will serve to alienate just as many listeners as it charms but, oh hell, who are we kidding Sparks couldn't be any more of a cult act than they already are, and this like every record they've put out for years is very much intended for that cult, for everyone who's been following the plot all along. The album's opener, The Rhythm Thief, does a good job summarizing the sonic direction of Lil' Beethoven through the lines I am the rhythm thief, Say goodbye to the beat and a multi-tracked chorus responding oh, no, where did the groove go
